Master Sword and Hylian Shield Replicas

25th Zelda Anniversary Celebrations

Very recently the Legend of Zelda series enjoyed its 25th Anniversary, and fans accross the globe have been doing their bit to celebrate the achievements of the series. A few impressive contributions to this have come to light recently. One fan by the name of SpiderChad has made a short clip on YouTube, thanking Nintendo for 25 years of fun and adventure. You can watch the youtube video by clicking here. Another fan, under the alias Ag+, has produced an excellent piece of Zelda fan art to commemorate the occasion. Skyward Sword to be Released After OoT 3D

Nintendo recently issued a statement that Ocarina of Time 3D will be released before The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. As usual, Nintendo has refused to pinpoint an exact release date for either game, insisting that either game will be released when it is finally ready. Regardless, we still have a long time to wait because Ocarina of Time 3D is not due for release until sometime after June, when E3 2011 takes place.

The History of Zelda

A recent article posted on IGN details a history of the Legend of Zelda series. It starts with the foundations of the earliest Zelda title and goes right up to the present day situation with Skyward Sword. Particularly interesting is the first part, which shows us just how unique the free roaming world of Zelda was back in those days compared to other games. Many games in the late 1980's were side-scrolling, or at least they told the player where to go in a straightforward way. The original Legend of Zelda game challenged this.
