The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - Secret Seashells Guide

There are over twenty secret seashells located in Koholint. They are quite hard to find, but the reward is well worth it. Once you collect 20 or more secret seashells, head to Seashell Mansion and you will recieve the Level 2 (L-2) sword!

Important Note: Seashell Mansion: Seashell mansion is where you go to turn in your shells and get the L-2 Sword. It can be found on the screen at coordinate 9,i. However, you can get two additional bonus seashells from the Seashell Mansion. When you have exactly 5 sea shells, head to the Seashell Mansion and you will be rewarded with a free sea shell. You can do the same when you have exactly 10 sea shells too. Note that you must have 5 (or 10) sea shells in order for this to work. If you have fewer or more sea shells than the amount required, you will not be rewarded!

1. Mabe Village (Coordinate: 4,K)
Cut down the plants in the large area of bushes just south of the Mabe Village shop, and a secret seashell will pop up.

2. Mabe Village (Coordinate: 2,K)
Go to the house where Bow-Wow is. Enter the small doghouse to the side, and dig in the bottom right corner.


3. Mysterious Woods (Coordinate: 2,H)
The seashell is inside the chest, it is surrounded by a few enemies. You will need the power bracelet in order to get to it.


4. Tail Cave (Coordinate: 4,N)
Head into the tail cave and to the western area of it. Bomb the crack in the wall to the left, a sea shell is hidden in a room beyond it.


5. Ukuku Prairie (Coordinate: 6,K)
Dig in the area in the middle of the patches of grass. To get up the ledge you will need to go around to the lake to the right of the Key Cavern. Although a lake is in your way, only the Roc's Feather is required to jump over the ledges to get over it. Once you get the 5th sea shell, head to sea shell mansion to get a 6th shell for free!


6. Richard's House (Coordinate: 7,N)
Once you have gotten the 5 golden leaves for Richard, he will reveal a secret passage. Inside the cave is a chest containing another sea shell.
