Zelda Characters - Ganon / Ganondorf



Ganon is the main antagonist in the Legend of Zelda series, appearing in all the games except for Link's Awakening. The name 'Ganondorf' is given to his human-like Gerudo form, whereas 'Ganon' is the name given to his grotesque, mad 'pig' form, the result of immense power corrupting Ganondorf.

Source of Power
Ganon possesses amazing power thanks to the Triforce of Power, which Ganon managed to steal from the Sacred Realm. Aside from his powers gained through the Triforce of Power, Ganon is also a master sorcerer and an accomplished sword fighter. Thus, when he got his hands on the Triforce of Power, his power became unstoppable to all - except for the Hero of Time. The Hero of Time, Link, was chosen by the Gods of Hyrule, for it is only Link who possesses the power, wisdom and courage to defeat Ganon.

Personality
Ganondorf is typically a nastly, ruthless piece of work. He lets nothing get in his way in his pursuit of the power of the Triforce and conquest of Hyrule, whether it be corrupting lands or murdering innocent inhabitants. However, he is also a rather calm, composed character, though he is also susceptible to great bouts of anger. The 'pig' form, Ganon, is much the opposite. He is reckless, animalistic, but also very powerful. Whereas Ganondorf is like a technical Godzilla nuking Japan through the use of carefully precise laser beams and attacks, Ganon is characterised by a Godzilla that just stomps and crushes everything it sees.

Cameos
Ganondorf makes appearances in the Super Smash Bros. games, where his character is faithful to that of the Legend of Zelda series. Ganon is the main antagonist of the Legend of Zelda cartoon series. However, he is not the cool, manipulative character that we have come to know from the Legend of Zelda games. Rather, in the Legend of Zelda cartoon series, Ganon takes on a form that looks much like a pig, and he is often very foolish and clumsy. Ganon is also the main antagonist in the Zelda CD-I games. His amusing characteristics have caused him, along with the other characters in the Zelda CD-I games, to become the subject of much ridicule on YouTube. His funniest line, which is relentlessly made fun of, is: "Join me Link, and I'll make your FACE the greatest in Kurodai!"
